About the Position Community Care Services is a division within ANGLICARE that assists elderly people lead fulfilling lives by providing life enriching care in the community. The Community Visitor Program is very special as it provides social support/friendship to isolated elderly people. What will I do? You will be assigned an isolated client to visit socially once a week or fortnight. - Visit the client in their own home - Provide conversation, friendship and companionship - May assist client with simple social activities eg walk, out for coffee (expenses covered by CVS) What Do I need? an understanding of social isolation Friendly personality Caring attitude Interested in people and able to chat about topical issues Car & driver s licence & comprehensive car insurance is desirable, but not essential ( Volunteers without their own means of transport may be matched with clients whose homes are reachable by public transport) *Volunteers who come from CALD background and speak another community language would be most welcome.* Location Sutherland Shire Time Commitment A few hours every week or fortnight. Reasonable expenses incurred for volunteering will be reimbursed e. g. buying coffee or light lunch for client, kilometres from client s home when on an outing.
